Method & assumptions

  • Grundzulage (basic allowance): 50% up to €360, 25% up to €1,800 (max. €540 a year).
  • Kinderzulage (child allowance) €300 per child, career-starter bonus €200 (under 25), minimum contribution €120 a year.
  • ETF comparison after Abgeltungsteuer (flat-rate capital gains tax, 25% + 5.5% solidarity surcharge) with the 30% partial exemption for equity funds.
  • Investment comparison against an ETF savings plan, Sparbuch (savings book), Tagesgeld (instant-access account) and Festgeld (fixed-term deposit) at the same contribution and term — rates indicative (as at 06/2026): Sparbuch 0.5%, Tagesgeld 2.0%, Festgeld 2.5%; reviewed quarterly.
  • Default assumptions: 2.0% inflation, 6.0% assumed return (not a guaranteed return).
